Head and Neck

Neck mechanism. Central universal joint with 15kg torque servos providing the pan and tilt.

Centre Eye.

Started work on the head and Neck over the last few days. The Neck mechanism was actually much easier that I had expected. The main universal joint is from a socket set which has been welded to a couple of metal plates. Sorry for the poor welding, it is the fist time I have welded. The universal joint will support the head and the two servos via linkage arms will pan and tilt the head. A Lazy Susan connected at the base of the neck will provide rotation. As well as starting the structure for the head I have started on the centre eye. I am using 1.2mm Plywood sheet rapped over an MDF former to provide the shape for the eye. I am in two minds now about the final head design. I might use a similar build to my R11(Emy) and make the head partially see through, plus of course fill it with lots of LED's.

  2. Hey, very nice site. I came across this on Google, and I am stoked that I did. I will definitely be coming back

here more often. Wish I could add to the conversation and bring a bit more to the table, but am just taking in as

much info as I can at the moment.
    Thanks for sharing.
